Would you like to create a temporary subdomain for the new site, for example staging.fortran-lang.org, or new.fortran-lang.org, or similar?

Should we at this time “lock” the current website for contributions while the new one is being evaluated?

Sir, I would like to have a temporary subdomain, but I am not aware its subsequent effects on SEO rankings ( as generally having 2 subdomains having similar contents affects the SEO Rankings.).

Yes sir, It seems apt to lock the current site for contributions as that would also save efforts and time of fellow contributors and also help them bridge to new site.
