Prospective/desirable characteristics of future fortran standards

Hi all,

Let me open a thread where we can propose features for fortran. We can also try to think why is fortran perceived as archaic.

  • As rwsmu said, I have the filling that fortran oop capabilities are half baked. I am not a CS myself, but I would like fortran oop to have all the requirements of that in C++

  • I would like more intrinsic parallelization.
