By clicking in the search entry of Firefox, I have just discovered that we can install Fortran Discourse Search as a search engine in our browser. Nice feature.

In Chrome, one can “Install Fortran Discourse” under the “Customise and control Google Chrome” button (located in the top-right for me). This makes it available as a “standalone” program.
While not directly related to search functionality, there is a growing number of online programming tools which run on client-side. Two examples I’ve come across are:
- HexEd.it - Browser-based and Offline Hex Editing
- Perfetto - System profiling, app tracing and trace analysis
In the long-term, it would be nice to develop similar scientific and engineering tools directly in Fortran by compiling to WASM.
