GSoC 2025 Interest – Exploring fastGPT with Fortran-lang

#GSoC-2025
Hi,
My name is Asim Hanif, a junior Software Engineering student with a strong interest in high-performance computing, machine learning, and scientific programming. I’m excited to express my interest in contributing to Fortran-lang during Google Summer of Code 2025, particularly the project titled “Improving fastGPT: Making it Faster, Easier to Use, and More General.”

While my core experience lies in Python, C++, and Java, with projects involving machine learning and numerical computation, what draws me to this project is the opportunity to work at the intersection of scientific performance and practical AI applications. Fortran’s efficiency, strong typing system, and native parallelism make it a powerful tool—especially for high-performance tasks involving large-scale numerical data, which aligns perfectly with the goals of fastGPT.

Although I am new to Fortran, I’m eager to learn and apply it throughout this project. I appreciate how Fortran combines clarity with computational power, and I’m structuring my proposal to include both project development milestones and my Fortran learning progress. I believe this dual approach will allow me to grow as both a developer and a contributor to the Fortran community.

I’d be grateful for any feedback or suggestions from the community as I prepare my proposal. I’m looking forward to contributing and learning through this exciting experience.

Warm regards,
Asim Hanif

Thanks for your interest. Go ahead and submit PRs to fastGPT since that is your interest for GSoC. And we’ll go from there.
