Yes
I am an antipodal programmer and user, almost exactly. ![]()
Hello. I am in Aus.
I’m in Oz.
Maybe not subscriber to the forum, yet I remember Daniel Price / School of Physics and Astronomy at Monash University for a Fortran 101 on youtube (his public GitHub repository).
I’m part of the planning committee for a BoF session that we’re planning on submitting for the research conference later this year in Melbourne. I was curious if any Fortran practitioners would like to be part of it as invited speakers? It’s in Melbourne so that’s why I asked if you’re here since coming down might be a bit difficult or other people!
I’m an NZ Fortran user who retired over 20 years ago. These days I report bugs in Fortran compilers. (Over 100 in Lfortran so far, but recently a few in gfortran and AMD flang.)
Yes. Melbourne based.
Yes, based in Sydney; Structural engineering and using OpenMP
Yep, based in Melbourne, tsunami hazard science
Yes! New Zealand based
Thank you for asking. I am based in Melbourne and I have a long-standing interest in Fortran, scientific computing, meteorological applications, numerical methods, and legacy software. I would be interested in hearing more about the proposed BoF session, including the conference, expected date, format, audience, and what kind of contribution you are looking for from invited speakers.
I would be happy to be considered, especially if the session includes Fortran in research computing, legacy code modernisation, numerical/scientific applications, or Australian Fortran practice.
I may have to restrict my attendance at conference to remote using zoom or Microsoft teams.
