GSoC Intro - Fortran plotting library

Hi everyone,

I’m excited to express my interest in working on the Fortran plotting library and contributing to its development.

Since someone already worked on this idea last year and completed the graphics library part (FIG), I’d love to build on their work and implement the plotting library part. @FedericoPerini, I was wondering if you are interested in mentoring this project again this year?

about me
I’m currently in my second year studying CS at Zagazig University in Egypt, and I have a strong interest in open source. I think contributing to Fortran would be a great place to start. I have experience with C, C++, Golang and Python, and recently have been spending time with Fortran to get more comfortable with it.

This would certainly be a nice-to-have!

This gap is the reason I recently started working on a Fortran plotting lib (here) using Generic Mapping Tools’ C-API (always preferred GMT over any other plotting tools), but that’s geared towards common science plots (with focus on maps in particular) rather than a more general graphics lib.
