I have been interviewed on CppCast (CppCast is the first podcast for C++ developers by C++ developers), we have discussed a lot of Fortran topics, such as why Fortran, fortran-lang, LFortran, fpm, etc. I want to thank Rob Irving and Jason Turner for inviting me on.
What I am hoping to achieve is to collaborate and communicate with other language communities, including C++, Julia, Python, Rust and others.
In case you or any other Fortran experts are interested in more podcasting outreach, there is a guy named Lex Fridman who has a science-oriented podcast that I believe has a large audience of scientists (hundreds of thousands of viewers, very famous guests from the science world).
In recent episodes Lex has repeatedly said he’d like to interview a Fortran expert, and asked to be direct-messaged on twitter if anyone has suggestions of people.
To be clear, I have nothing to do with him or the podcast. But I think it would be a great if we could get the right person on. Especially if they simultaneously have expertise in other languages, and can articulate the place of Fortran in the scientific computing ecosystem.
I am happy to talk to anyone about Fortran. Especially if somebody is skeptical about Fortran, but is willing to have a discussion, I have a plenty of experience with that. Of course, if people already like Fortran, it’s even easier.
