I just saw Anjuan Simmons’ talk FORTRAN’s AI Playbook: Leadership lessons from history, an about half an hour presentation on August 4th about how the language made it so much easier to compute vs the previously approach by writing machine code, and hence its impact in the scientific community.
Not part of his talk is the part how contemporary Fortran can be and already is used, sometimes visibly (Beliavsky’s compilations), sometimes «under the hood».
