February Newsletter request for information

Hi all,

I will start working on putting together the newsletter for Feb. If there’s something you’d like included please let me know, i.e. releases of code, packages, bug reports/fixes in compilers, JOSS papers, Fortran in the news, etc.

I will post a preview once I have everything, happy week!

I have two items for you already: the “Please no more loops” presentation by Damian Rousson of yesterday and the archiving of the Xeffort project (item on the Intel Fortran Forum).

I have an item for LFortran. Do you want to start a PR, and I can submit a commit or comment to it?

Fortran users may wish to be aware that licences for Winteracter, the multi-platform Fortran graphics and GUI toolset, can now be requested, via https://www.winteracter.uk/licrequest.php. Winteracter is now wholly non-commercial, so licences are available free of charge. The package continues to be updated. V17.0 was released recently, adding five new compiler/platform combinations, including new versions for ARM64 and Flang.

I had not come across it before; it looks great. Is there any indication of an intention to make it open-source? (I can’t find anything that points to that).

I’ve added the Winteracter comment to the current draft, please let me know if there’s anything else you’d want to include!

Do we need anything else to publish it?
