EGU26 in Vienna

Following @jorgeg’s ISC26 post, I want to ask if anyone here is attending EGU26 in May?

Among many other things, I plan to present FSML in the Scientific software development session to make a case to the Earth Science Fortraners/Fortresses for using fpm and stdlib, and for open development closer to the wider Fortran community.

If anyone else is attending, I could register a “Fortran for Earth and Planetary Sciences” (or similar) pop-up network and book a room for networking.

Hey there. I plan to present mHMv6, the next version of our hydrological model written in Fortran in HS2.5 – Global and (sub)continental hydrology.

Would be interested in networking!

I bookmarked your session and will try to make it. (Looking at the model now).

Great; once the pop-up network tool becomes available this year (this may just be in April), I’ll book a time slot and room.

I created a pop-up networking event for lunch time on Thursday of the General Assembly:

Fortran for Earth and Planetary Sciences (Networking)
Organized by Sebastian G. Mutz
Location: EGU networking zone – suite C (Red Level)
Thu, 07 May, 12:30–13:30 CEST

The event is listed here. I’ll hopefully see you there, @MuellerSeb.

@fxm thanks again for organizing this networking event. It was really nice to meet you.

Here the discussion about nml-tools, that I mentioned:

Thanks for the link and the chat today! It was nice to meet you and everyone else. Having this group of Fortranners with different backgrounds, perspectives, and experience levels (on the whole spectrum from “newcomer” to “punch cards”) was great.

Good stuff; thanks for the intro to the model and your work today.
Good to know that coupling to climate models is fairly hassle free and that you’ve coupled it to ICON output already.
