There is an interesting post by Paul Thomas outlining the history of what now is gfortran: https://groups.google.com/g/comp.lang.fortran/c/NDE6JKTFbNU/m/BKkb57jKBwAJ
This suggests more like something around 10-15 years for solid f95 support, but I guess the gfortran development is not that straightforward as e.g. for NAG or others.

Quietly started in 2015, I believe. It was two years in when I joined NVIDIA in 2017 to work on Flang (what is now Classic Flang). I believe we didnāt publish that on GitHub until 2017.
