Is creating nested subroutines/functions considered good practice in Fortran?

For that reason I only use contains in trivial cases, where I just want to quickly add an auxiliary procedure (which typically isn’t long and doesn’t need many variables anyway.)

And to answer the initial question, it is neither a good nor a bad practice in itself, all depends on the context.
