I ran into a small but for me significant problem with the Intel Fortran compiler and I wanted to report that, but I cannot log in - no response after an initial “loading …”. Is that just me or is it an Intel problem? ---

The Intel forum has been flaky for years since its latest migration. I was able to log in this morning, however.) ---

I was trying to connect to the support system the whole day to open a ticket regarding Windows+CMake+Ninja+ifort/ifx problems with long paths and no luck… the website freezes ---

what URL are you starting with? I have had similar symptoms many times if I do not start at the top and click down through the URLs to get to the forum. ---

I just verified that I cannot circumvent the problem by trying to reply to an existing post. I am redirected to log in to the same page, which, as stated, is not responsive. ---

I tried to follow @urbanjost 's suggestion (going back to the list of forums and selecting the Fortran one), and now the login page works, but after submitting the credentials I get: > Please provide the following details. > > Your login or registration attempt is not allowed. Please contact administrator for help EDIT: That seems to be caused by the authentication asking for a phone number as a second factor. And it doesn’t give the option to just send the authentication code to your email (it wants your phone number!). ---

Wow, this looks like a major disaster for many intel employees. We all hope for the best for those affected, especially those working in compiler development who we know through this forum. ---

Reading closer and what I read elsewhere, I think a lot of these folks are in the car technologies area. However, having gone through a company consolidation/layoff in 1989 at an aerospace company I was working for at the time I know that once these things start in one division they start to snow ball to other areas of the company particularly when upper management sees what reducing labor costs does to the value of their stock options. In my case, I was given an option of moving to California or taking an involuntary layoff. This was a month after when we had a meeting with senior management that tolds us that due to the importance of our groups work to on-going company projects we were safe from layoffs for a while. A couple months later I just happened to be looking at the financial section of the local paper and saw where a bunch of the senior management who were pushing the consolidation had magically decided to retire just when the stock price was shooting up. I do feel sorry for the average Joe Engineer and computer scientist that has to go through layoffs. Not sure who runs Intel now but in my case it was a lawyer who could barely spell engineering. ---

the Forum seems back to normal today (Friday 27 June ). For now at least.
