But on the other hand there is little interaction with the committee there. If some informal feedback was given from the committee members on the proposals, with some encouragements such as “looks potentially interesting, go ahead and write a paper to submit to the committee” (or why not a clear no-go “this has almost no chance to be accepted”), this would probably motivate more people to start the dirty work.
