Dear all,

It’s again time to organise our next monthly call which will be in the week of Arpil 18-22; please see the following doodle poll to mark your availability:

Out of curiosity, what are these meetings mostly about? And can the wider fortran Lang audience join/propose potential discussion topics?

Much of it has been about improving Fortran-lang projects and processes, but people have been demoing their projects as well. I’d like to see more of those. Calls are casual and free-form and anybody is welcome to discuss anything Fortran-related. There’s no formal reviewing and approving of the agenda–if you’d like to discuss/demo a project of yours, just write in this thread and it will get on the agenda.

Okay awesome, thanks a lot for the clarification.

At some point I would like to discuss the potential improvements/missing features for VS Code’s Modern Fortran and how could we use the extension as a testbed for existing Fortran-lang projects.

For the latter I have some ideas such as adding build support for fpm, or offering newly created projects to use stdlib. Probably, there are a lot more things that VS Code could be used for and I would be interested in finding out how they can help Fortran-lang grow as an organisation.

However, realistically, I don’t think the extension will have been transferred to Fortran-lang by April 22 since Microsoft is taking a considerable amount of time to respond to queries, so this discussion might have to wait until May.

I’ve done this twice now. Once for [Visual Studio](https://github.com/everythingfunctional/fpm-for-VS), and once for [Atom](https://github.com/everythingfunctional/atom-build-fpm). I would be happy to provide any insights I’ve gleaned in doing so, and what improvements I’d make if you’d be willing to create a similar plugin for VSCode.

My idea was to incorporate it into the VS Code extension similar to cmake (which I have yet to do). Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you want to join the development of the VS Code extension please ping one of the admins [here](https://github.com/orgs/fortran-lang/teams/vscode)

I will be travelling on Friday evening and won’t be able to join the meeting.

Anyway, feel free to propose items for the agenda.

Just an astronomer’s two cents: GMT=UTC. 17:00 UTC/GMT is 18:00 BST (London, British Summer Time) or 19:00 CEST (Central Europe Summer Time)

At least the Modern Fortran VS Code extension was on the agenda, if I read the thread correctly.

</div>

Also, if nothing else comes up, I would like to discuss some project releases:

- stdlib patch release: [Bugfix release version 0.2.1 by awvwgk · Pull Request #651 · fortran-lang/stdlib · GitHub](https://github.com/fortran-lang/stdlib/pull/651)
  - future of manual Makefile build?

- first minpack: [Release version 2.0.0 · Issue #44 · fortran-lang/minpack · GitHub](https://github.com/fortran-lang/minpack/issues/44)
- next fpm release: [Release version 0.6.0 · Issue #679 · fortran-lang/fpm · GitHub](https://github.com/fortran-lang/fpm/issues/679)

As well as ways to encourage maintainers to make releases (since I’ve been making most releases lately).

Here is another, minor, point for the agenda: more tutorials? And if so, what tutorials? I have in mind one on code coverage - not very difficult, but still you need to know the right steps and they differ per compiler.
