I’m trying to install stdlib on Ubuntu22.04 (on Windows-WSL).

I have cloned stdlib and uses v0.7.0.

I have followed the README and I am almost OK except I have a few “Failed” appearing during the install/test process, reported below through 2 questions.

FIRST question

After “cmake –build build”, i have the “Failed” message below. Is it important (and maybe related to the tests failure in SECOND question)

_On -DCMAKE\_BUILD\_TYPE=NoConfig
– The Fortran compiler identification is GNU 11.4.0
– Detecting Fortran compiler ABI info
– Detecting Fortran compiler ABI info - done
– Check for working Fortran compiler: /usr/bin/f95 - skipped
– Performing Test WITH\_CBOOL
– Performing Test WITH\_CBOOL - Success
– Performing Test WITH\_QP
– Performing Test WITH\_QP - Success
– Performing Test WITH\_XDP
– Performing Test WITH\_XDP - Success
– Performing Test f18errorstop
 **– Performing Test f18errorstop - Failed** _

SECOND question :

After ctest --test-dir build/test, I get 3 Failed tests (see below). I would prefer no “Failed”! Do you observe the same behavior (ubuntu20.04 + stdlib tag 0.7.0)?

_95% tests passed, 3 tests failed out of 64_

_Label Time Summary:
quadruple\_precision = 0.39 sec\*proc (2 tests)_

_Total Test time (real) = 19.08 sec_

_The following tests FAILED:
35 - mean (Failed)
52 - string\_to\_number (Failed)
56 - simps (Failed)
Errors while running CTest_

This in itself is not an issue. In CMake there are checks to see if the compiler supports or not the `error stop` syntax. Within stdlib there two options of implementation to manage errors to enable support by compiler version which didn’t yet support this 2018 syntax.

Are you using Ubuntu 22 or 20 ? which compiler and which version are you using?

</div>

Actually, it is ubuntu22.04 with native gcc11.4.0 (and I use v0.7.0 of stdlib).

(FYI: I have installed inteloneapi 25.2 and everything is OK - no test fail.)

Do you have also the same 3 test failures on a similar configuration?

Couldn’t say, I work directly with the master branch and there have been many many fixes since the 0.7.0 upto the most recent 0.8.1. But I do build it on Windows and Linux with intel and gnu compilers and I don’t see any of those errors you mention with the recent versions.

Try upgrading to gfortran-13

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test
sudo apt update
sudo apt install gcc-13 gfortran-13 g+±13

you have to reference these using version extension

ie gfortran-13 not just gfortran.

see [Installing GCC13 on Ubuntu 22.04](https://developernote.com/2023/08/installing-gcc13-on-ubuntu-22-04/)

gcc 11 is very old.

@hkvzjal

7 tests fail (out of 86) with v0.8.1 on my configuration (WSL Ubuntu 22.04 (gcc11.4) + stdlig v0.8.1)

The following tests FAILED:
15 - intrinsics (Failed)
31 - linalg\_pseudoinverse (Failed)
40 - linalg\_solve\_iterative (SEGFAULT)
44 - blas\_lapack (Failed)
53 - mean (Failed)
70 - string\_to\_number (Failed)
78 - simps (Failed)

@rwmsu

As README.md of stdlib says that GCC11 should be a supported compiler, I think that this feedback with gcc11.4 can be interesting for stdlib developers.

@both : many thanks for your replies
