Starting a new thread to avoid derailing the previous one.

> I started in 2017 basically from scratch using a C++ tutorial but coding it up in Fortran, it was a great C++ tutorial because it was a guide on electronic structure methods _and_ (procedural) programming and I had to learn both at this point.

Could you provide a link to the C++ tutorial? I found [C++ Programming Tutorial in Chemistry](https://github.com/CrawfordGroup/ProgrammingProjects) on GitHub. I should relearn C++, if only to access the vast amount of C++ software for scientific computing and machine learning. I can start with Stroustrup’s [A Tour of C++, 2nd Edition (2018)](https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/a-tour-of/9780134998053/), which is only 256 pages. A 2nd edition of [Discovering Modern C++: An Intensive Course for Scientists, Engineers, and Programmers](https://www.amazon.com/Discovering-Modern-Scientists-Programmers-Depth/dp/0134383583) is to be published in April 2021.

Exactly, that’s it! I was sad when the original page at [http://sirius.chem.vt.edu/wiki/doku.php](http://sirius.chem.vt.edu/wiki/doku.php) went dead some time ago, so many thanks for finding it again.
